NetDoctor.co.uk launches contraceptive pill reminder as an SMS text service for mobile users
NetDoctor.co.uk today announced the launch of Contraceptive Text, an innovative new service for women who want a reminder to take their contraceptive pill. The reminder is sent to their mobile telephone wherever they may be.
Contraceptive Text is the first in a series of new text services to be offered by NetDoctor. It is a new concept in healthcare communication, for people who want to stay on top of their health also for those who want to set up reminders for taking their medication, contraception or prescriptions. Users will receive text messages sent directly to their mobile phone. They will be able to choose their preferred service on the NetDoctor website, such as Daily Health Tip, Daily Exercise or Daily Diet. Users can also choose to receive reminders to tell them when to take medication. This can be particularly useful for people who are on short courses such as malaria or antibiotics, for example. The information is then sent directly to their mobile phone.
Users ‘opt in’ to receive their preferred text and they are then charged a nominal amount on their normal mobile phone bill or pay as you go phone. They can suspend, cancel or increase the service at any time, either via the website or from their mobile phone handset.
‘We have been assessing how to capitalise on the emerging wireless technologies for some time, as such the Contraceptive Text is the first in a line of exciting services NetDoctor will be launching and evaluating in 2002’, commented Alex Ballantyne, NetDoctor CEO.
