The educational impact of SMS on safeguarding and retention
Yorkshire Coast College’s use of short message service (SMS) to communicate with learners has seen real results in many areas, including safeguarding and improving learner welfare and retention. The system provides a simple dialogue mechanism that enables the College to be more responsive to learner needs and has, as a result, improved College services and the learner experience.

We are pleased to announce that the 6th “Let’s talk about txt!” conference will take place at the University of Bath on Wednesday 19th May 2010. We are very pleased to be working with Andy Ramsden at the university to bring this event to the South West. This is a free one day event and is designed to provide insights into how the education users are making use of this simple technology. There will be presentations and workshops from experienced users in colleges and universities in the following themes: Teaching and Learning, Marketing and Student Recruitment and Student Support. There will be an opportunity to network with peers, hear about the latest txttools technology and share your experiences and ideas.
